ARTIST STATEMENT

“ In the silence of my heart, where only the witness exists, the critic disappears”

My paintings unfold from spontaneity and intuition - a dance of color, texture and mark-making, where images emerge on their own accord. Very little is planned; I prefer to be led by what emerges, trusting the process and welcoming the element of surprise. My work is deeply influenced by the art of improvisation, the language of dreams and the rhythms of my inner landscape. Birds and the human figure often appear in my work.

My collage series Poetry Behind the Mask explores humor, the absurd and the authenticity of the self that exists beneath our disguises and the masks we wear.

Born in Lima, Peru and based in Miami, Florida. I hold a Bachelor's in Architecture and a Masters in Art Education. My background in design and my lifelong passion for dance improvisation have profoundly shaped my artistic vision, guiding me toward fluidity, play and embodied expression. Over twenty five years of teaching art have opened my curiosity to many mediums; today I work primarily in acrylics, mixed media and collage.

Ultimately, I aim for my work to be an invitation - for the viewer to step into their own choreography, to meet themselves in color and image, and to be a witness of their own inner dance.
